Buying an expensive used car, sight unseen on the other side of the continent, probably wouldn’t be recommended by most people. After more than half-a-century of vintage motoring, it was certainly a new experience for me. The fact that it was being sold by an unknown broker only fuelled my anxiety levels.

To be fair, a lot was at stake. I’m not a wealthy person and a considerable chunk of hard-earned super was at risk. With self-preservation in mind, I made a few discreet enquires about the proprietors and activities of BMC (don’t tell Neil or Colin). Fortunately, the feedback was very positive, so I decided to proceed with the purchase – a Jaguar SS100 recreation by Finch of South Australia.

Once committed, it was all plain sailing. Neil and Colin were extremely helpful throughout. The car arrived in Brisbane without incident and it exceeded my expectations. A few days later, two parcels of original drawings arrived, an unexpected bonus.

In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending BMC to anyone considering buying a vintage or classic car regardless of where you are located.
