A TR6 of excellent pedigree is reluctantly being sold by its owner of 12 years. A fully restored example that presents as new and is an exhilarating driving pleasure. The demand for six-cylinder English roadsters is soaring with prices increasing each year as the cars become rarer and enthusiasts recognise their value. Austin-Healey 3000s, MGCs and Jaguars are among those being sought, along with Triumph’s TR6 which is well designed, with positive handling and a powerful 2500cc engine. This example built in October 1975 has a realistic price and boasts a total ‘chassis off’ restoration completed about 10 years ago – including work from the esteemed Healey Factory. The car has only travelled 6720km since its rebuild so it is in excellent condition throughout. It is being sold to make room for another classic car project. The car underwent a full restoration in Melbourne including the engine and gearbox — with overdrive on third and fourth gears — and a new wiring loom. The body was taken back to bare metal and a metallic paint colour, similar to Pimento Red that was offered in 1975, was prepared and painted by a professional body shop. It is one of the last TR6s built before Triumph moved to the TR7. It drives with all the performance and engine note expected of a new TR6. The cabin has newly upholstered seats and fresh carpets, a new (unused) tonneau cover, new hood, new alternator and numerous other new replacement parts. All the running gear is complete and in very good working order, including the tyres and exhaust system. It has an audio system with the CD changer in the boot. The owner said the overdrive gearbox allows it to cruise quietly and efficiently at 100km/h at only 2200rpm. The car is ready for a new owner having being tuned and serviced.
