TF: The best of both worlds

MG’s highly sought after 1954 TF comes to the market as an early restoration with clever modifications designed to make it easier to drive and more suitable for today’s traffic.
The owner is selling only after downsizing his house, leaving him with only one car space. The MG TF has been in his care for the past 24 years so it’s a difficult decision to place it up for sale.
The car was restored about 30 years ago by Rob Grantham.
It has more frequently had a panel-off respray and the hood and tonneau are new, made of tan-coloured canvas, so it has full wet-weather gear. New 60-spoke chrome wire wheels have also been added.
The engine was overhauled at 55,126 miles (now 74,000 miles) with liners fitted and standard-size pistons.
During the current ownership, it was modified to simplify driving. This includes the addition of electric power steering to lighten the steering effort at parking speeds.
The engine now has electronic ignition, an alternator and a geared starter motor for reliability and durability, along with an electric fan for the radiator.
A front antiroll bar has been fitted and it now has a five-speed gearbox to improve touring.
These changes are not easily visible externally and in most cases, can be reversed as the sale includes the original steering wheel, distributor, generator and gearbox, plus other parts.
The car is in very good condition and has been fully maintained and has a full service record back to 2000.
It is on a full WA licence.
It is located in Perth and available for inspection. Additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at buyer’s cost.
