Alfa Romeo
2000 Spider Veloce
$63,500
Classic Italian survivor
Alfa Romeo’s Spider series has always been a very desirable convertible and this one exemplifies that with its factory right-hand drive, Australian delivered finished in the original paint colour, alloy wheels and ‘Certificate de Origine’ certificate. This original 2000 Spider convertible was delivered from the factory in 1976 to its Australian owner under the (now obsolete) ownership scheme. The car was used in Europe for 12 months and then shipped by its owner to its new home in Australia. It has been lovingly cared for since, including an early refurbishment and, more lately, a renovation that included handcrafted full leather Amaranto upholstery in burgundy to complement the high quality dark blue (original factory colour ‘Blu’) paintwork. Seating includes two smaller units, also finished in leather, behind the front seats, introduced in 1975 to give the car extra passenger room. This example also has the original factory Campagnolo ‘Turbine’ alloy wheels. It is the last of the elegant stainless-steel bumper model before being discontinued and replaced by the rubber bumpers introduced to meet US standards. It is a very desirable example of the later Pininfarina-designed Spider and its excellent mechanical condition and exemplary driving experience make it perfect for club outings as well as commuting. The 2-litre engine, rated at 132bhp, is fitted with two Dellorto carburettors and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Alfa Romeo made 16,320 of the 2000 Spider Veloce version in the second series (dubbed ‘Kamm tail’ to differentiate it from the first series ‘boat tail’) of the model between 1970 and 1983. The car is part of a collection and is being sold — reluctantly — only because of space issues. It comes with the ownership and warranty/service papers dating from when the first owner picked up the car in Milan in May 1976. The car is on concessional license plates. Inspection is in Perth southern suburbs. Additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at the buyer’s cost. While information supplied for this listing has been taken in good faith, prospective buyers should undertake their own research and investigation before purchase.
