An immaculate restoration of one of Australia’s iconic home-grown coupes is reluctantly on the market. This 1971 VH Charger has been the subject of a painstaking renovation that brought together some of Australia’s best automotive craftspeople and spared little expense to reach its show-stopping result. All areas of the car were examined and refined during the process. The bodywork by Craig Douglas involved stripping and removing all rust, replaced with new steel and without bog. The respray was complete — inside and out — before the bare body received an all-new wiring harness (Benchmark Auto Electrical) and a new and reupholstered interior (World Upholstery Service) and a fully-restored brake system thanks to Perth Brake Parts. The engine (originally a 245) was replaced with a 340 V8 and then enhanced with a stroker kit to 416, then mated to a 727 TorqueFlite transmission (work by Leonhardt Automotive Mechanical). Other work included new ceramic headers and a new exhaust system, and the fitting of new 15-inch Indy Jellybean polished wheels. The car is in immaculate condition with less than 1000km on the clock since the restoration. It has been recently serviced. The car is fully licensed for the road and registered in WA. This is a very special car for an enthusiast who loves Australian cars and has a passion for driving the best. It is located in Perth and available for inspection. Additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at buyer’s cost.
