This rare Morgan 4/4 1600 four-seater has been cared for since it first came to Australia with its first owner soon after it was built in 1976. Now its third owner reluctantly has placed the car for sale, selling it with a comprehensive list of spare parts and a substantial 40-plus library of reference and historical books. The car has been owned by a Morgan Car Club member since he purchased it in 1987 and it has competed in club events. Some modifications have been made to lift performance, some for safety and others to reduce maintenance and ensure the car’s longevity. Though it has been well used, it has been religiously serviced and maintained. The 1.6-litre Ford Kent cross-flow engine was completely rebuilt in 2000 by well-regarded WA Ford engine performance specialists RaceTune and had some slight enhancements – exhaust extractors and Weber twin-barrel downdraft carburettor – to raise power and torque. At the same time, a rebuilt five-speed Ford gearbox was added to make touring more comfortable. The original four-speed gearbox and its tail shaft are in very good condition and included in the sale. The engine has extractors and a stainless-steel exhaust system; new alternator and battery (2 months old); recent radiator service and sealed system added with catch tank; electric radiator fan (auto or manual); air horns; and anti-theft alarm. The car is finished in its original Nut Brown and Royal Ivory paint as it left the factory, with the repaint professionally completed in the 1990s. Seats are now trimmed in tan vinyl but the original dark brown seats with velour inserts are included with the sale. The hood is dark brown and in good condition. The tonneau is also in very good condition. This can be removed or arranged to cover the rear area, or the rear and passenger sears. The roll bar was added some years ago as a safety feature (it can be removed) along with front and rear seat belts. The dashboard is wood and is a more recent inclusion, replacing the original vinyl-faced board (included in sale). Other works include the addition of under-hood grease nipples for the sliding-pillar front suspension; chrome rear luggage rack (removable); new perspex on the rigid side panels (included); wide-vision  rear screen for the hood; and a centre rear brake light. The car has started to show some rust in the lower edge of the passenger door and sill. New sill and door panels are included with the car’s sale. The car has plenty of tread in the Michelin tyres. An unused set of four Michelin XZX 165R15 tyres and tubes is included. Other parts to be sold with the car include water pump, various fan belts, radiator hoses, spark plugs, headlight surrounds, brake pads, dampers, the original handbook and brand booklets. There is also two brand new rear splined hubs, valued at about $600 each. The car is on concessional registration plates. This vehicle can be inspected in Perth.
