NOTHING defines sports cars from the post-war 20th century more than MG. Affordable, purpose-built, cheap to own and drive, stylish in the practical rather than luxurious sense, the T-type TC, TD and TF sold almost 50,000 units from 1945 to 1955. This car is a 1954 TF from the last line before MG released the MGA, so it was the development platform of many of the engine, suspension, brake and steering upgrades that were passed onto the MGA. This TF is a solid example that has been used consistently and as such, kept in very good mechanical order to preserve its reliability. It has also been subtly modified to suit the owner’s needs, with the inclusion of a five-speed Ford gearbox to make touring and highway runs quieter and more economical. It also has electronic ignition, ancillary digital speedo and a brake booster. The car is on full WA road license. It comes with good tyres, full seat weather gear including hood and side curtains, tonneau (as shown) and original jack and some tools. Its bodywork is in fair condition and a new owner may consider refurbishment and paintwork, although it is presentable and used as it is to maintain the patina. The car is being sold as the owner needs a simpler car to drive. It is located in Perth hills. Additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at the buyer’s cost. While information supplied for this listing has been taken in good faith, prospective buyers should undertake their own research and investigation before purchase.
